An hours haul of abandoned trolleys

Abandoned trolleys are a problem throughout the Borough. This Saturday, Southgate campaigners collected and returned a number of abandoned ASDA trolleys from surrounding streets.

Campaigners handed ASDA a letter asking them to ensure that their trolleys stay on site or are recovered promptly.

"Trolleys block pavements, attract further dumping and are a general nuisance" said local campaigner Paul D Smith. "Supermarkets need to restrict their trolleys to the supermarket and promptly round-up any strays; that's what we've asked ASDA to do ".

ASDA managers are aware of the problem and say that residents can report abandoned trolleys by calling ASDA on 020 8882 9881.

If you find abandoned and trolley, please notify the owners and let us know. We'll be watching to see which supermarkets are working hard to retrieve their abandoned trolleys, and which are not!
